Embracing Balance

When the Balance in Business Feels Just Right
The Vernal Equinox is one of my favorite days of the year. It signals the start of Spring, which occurs annually in the Northern Hemisphere on March 21. The name is based in Latin and means aequus nox or 'Equal Night', when the Earth's equator is passing on the same plane as the Sun's equator, creating a balance of day and night; roughly the same amount of time spent in light as in darkness.
Nature's balancing act
On either Vernal or Autumnal Equinox, I enjoy the balance of day and night. It just feels right to me. Too many hours of darkness in a day is just as hard on me as too many hours of sunlight. I feel like I either sleep too much or not enough. I guess I'm sort of like Goldilocks with the three bears. I like a sense of balance in most anything, and for me, the balance of the Vernal Equinox feels 'just right'!
Balance is never boring!
The same concept holds true in my voiceover business. I enjoy a balance of auditioning, classes, private coaching, meeting up with fellow voice actors on Zoom in either one of my accountability groups, or in a webinar. Too much of one thing can get boring! It's most fun when my week is a mix of all of these.
Although, I must say, that auditioning probably tends to tip the scales a bit. But that's actually okay, because even with auditions, I rarely see the same script twice, although now and then I will receive the same script from both one of my agents (or sometimes even from two different agents) and then also receive it from a casting director. That sure does let you know that a lot of actors will be auditioning!
That's one reason that I decided to pursue voice acting; so that I could pretend to be different people in different scenarios. And all in all, so far, I have found that balance to be 'just right'!
